The Trio
The Trio
Sitting in your wheel chair – no one caught your eye;
Your posture saying – so alone - leave me here to die;
Meeting the pain, the loneliness, living in your face –
Cold despair gripping your soul – no one could erase.
Wandering on the city streets – calling sidewalks your home;
A heavy pack upon your back – everything you owned;
But at the end of a ragged rope lease, a puppy that you found -
Two abandoned wanderers resting on the ground.
Begging on the city streets – hunger in your hands;
The doorways, your cradle – you could hardly stand;
Finding you a shelter – maybe money for a meal –
A smile, a word, reaching out - shattering this daily ordeal.
Knowing in this world many people face each day alone;
Living in shacks, in shelters – living in senior homes;
Just too many folks for these two hands to reach
But touching each and every one - remembering them in prayer.
Always remembering to pray for you – Lord, don’t let me forget –
Haunted souls touching my heart – pain that I have met;
Always remembering to pray for you – the ones with nobody else;
I can’t change the road you walk, but I’ll remember you in my prayer.
I can’t change the road you walk, but, I’ll remember you in my prayer.
Dedicated to the three people who changed my prayer life.
