The Trance of Echoes

Coupled with your silence that said what your words couldn't,
I wore the masks you chose for me,
Swallowed the words you didn't want to hear,
And built myself around your anger,
Yet your eyes never softened when they looked at me.
Now adrift in this trance of mine,
I search for answers, a meaning unseen,
In the echoes of your words, a love redefined,
A love that was, a love that might have been.
