The Time Has Gone

Sitting in my tattered chair
staring at the TV
I realize I am old
the time has gone
I lived a good life
had a few good friends
fell in love
bore children
grandchildren
the years have slipped quickly by
no warning of loneliness
of sorrow
life brings surprises that break your heart
joys to bring you up
as I reflect
I see my life as a short memory
maybe a dream
where there was energy
now weariness
a busy life now quiet
the time has gone
