The Time Had Come

And God said
Let them eat cake
And have their fun too
The twilight grows bold
And there's no time for growing old

Mountain larks sing
Glacier waters run deep
In the crystal lattice chamber
Millions of organisms gathered to speak

Only man and his sordid hand
Could break the gratuitous glee
For he sat somber frozen in grief
What will become of me?

Between his cabinets
He gathered an incredible fleet
Scores of credits to assure his dynasty
What then? When the albums fizzle to mold
The organisms take over
Nothing to be sold

Crusted over
Man gathers and roars
Greedy for health
Gutsy for wealth
Old in dying
Young or obtuse

But still God stood there
Gallant in glee
When will he come to meet with me?
As divine abides
Blood ran deep
The time had come
