The Thronging Horde

Its that time of year we'll try to be of good cheer as the store opens at dawn and we rush in with a yawn to elbow through the discord a part of the thronging horde anxious to spend, hoping that in the end we'll have bargains at last for another consumer Christmas.

I am LAUGHING so hard, Sue. I see you placed this poem in the "natural disasters" category and you surely got it right. A time of peace turns upside down when the store doors open. Christmas is too commercialized and, with a lot of levity, you bring this message to the forefront. Excellent work. I'd like to share it with a friend who hates to shop (as I do). Much love, Carolyn

Your fifth line is why I avoid Black Friday. Good use of rhyme. You captured the essence of the madness of the rush quite well in this one. Keep on writing! Karen

Enjoyed the honesty in this Sue. One of the things that bothers me about the Christmas Season is the materialism. I don't buy into myself but a lot do. Love Light Patty
