The Things We Hear

Listen closely when someone talks to you so you won't misinterpret their meaning. Take into account who you are talking to and the way you know them to express themselves. When you repeat something you hear make sure you repeat what was said not what you THINK you heard. Repeat, Hmmmmm Do you know what a "Repeater" is? It's a gun. Try not to shoot someone down with your mouth.
The things we hear, the things we say,
Are often not really meant that way;
For often some will say in jest,
Things that shouldn't be said at best.
Often when people are tired or upset,
They'll fuss and fume and grumble and fret;
And others will use the things they hear,
To feather their nest and themselves endear.
They take out of context the things that they hear,
And repeat it to friends and cohorts and peers;
So remember when someone complains to you,
Unless it will help, don't spread the news.
Keep to yourself what you hear others say,
For it all will come home, back to you some day.
Mayhap not today, tomorrow, next week,
But trouble comes back, it's maker to seek.
Like the salmon who swims upstream to spawn,
Or the tides ebb and flow at moonrise and dawn,
Trouble will seek out it's own birth place too.
Make sure when it does that it won't seek out you.
