The Temptress and Her Dark Spread Wicked Web

The Temptress And Her Dark Spread Wicked Web Your course was chosen, waiting for you to find it Love came forth and you sought to forever bind it Yet earth and sky saw your scheming inner spirit And in life's madden race, a voice said, just shear it Mother Nature saw and fiercely shook your rafters Whilst Fate smiled at those wily little crafters O' blindness, your melody races ahead Your soul lives on dirty water and molded bread. Laugh at those that see your audacious little game With those selfish whims and you without any shame Moon mocks you as your lying roars like loud thunder Tis very true, truth shall bring your dreams asunder. Your course was chosen, waiting for you to find it. Love came forth and you sought to forever bind it. Robert J. Lindley, 9-08- 2022 Sonnet, (Dark)- (Light reveals evil and its tragic deeds exist) Note: A sad look back into the darkness, wherein youth and folly collided.. Pain and sorrow flourished. -1977

Great metaphor in these lines: "O' blindness, your melody races ahead Your soul lives on dirty water and molded bread." You bring up some good points in this piece.

My friend, I am doing a bit better but have a ways to go methinks. Yes, dark poetry serves a purpose as it exposes a certain element of reality in poetry. I know many abhor it and think less of poets that write using dark verses. I say, well Edgar Allan Poe was a dark poet , as were a great many of the golden greats. Fine poetry is fine poetry ragardless if it is dark verses or not. Reality has to be presented, this world itself is dark and evil.. An undeniable fact..

Thank you, my friend. As a poet Ifeel truth must be firmly within ones writings if composing upon real life events. Especially so if the subject is romance, intereactions in that usually beautiful, special union. To write about the dark, the bad that sometimes happens too, is necessary -as that is a part of life. The youth of today should be able to read and know that it is survivable. Although it so oft leaves emotional/mental scars for a lifetime. God bless.

1977- My graduation year from H.S. I think we have all experienced those dark days at one point of our lives, if not more. Brilliant write, Robert. Hope all is well my dear friend. Have a great weekend. Charlie

Thank you, my friend. One must wonder how many have had such events in their lives, especially so in their youth. And unless being a writer/poet never relay that event to others. God bless..

It makes one wonder what happened to a person in 1977 to inspire such a dark write. Everyone has had their course charted for them, haven't they? We are all living under Moon and Sun and some of us, without food, starving, might be grateful for some mouldy bread and dirty water, if no other food in sight. An interesting poem, much to be translated from it, and taken on board for unique and individual journeys. A poem that many could relate to. None of us are ... saints. :) This will have to go into the 'favourites'.

Thank you, my friend. And for the fav'ing of this one as well. I left so much out in the brief note. As real life, memory of the pain and sorrow forbade my giving too much exposure to the past and those sad times. Times that one, even today, wonders how they survived while being so young and blinded to so much in this dark world. . God bless..

Moon mocks you as your lying roars like loud thunder Tis very true, truth shall bring your dreams asunder.// of course with no consequences we should never learn, some never do. Enjoyed the write, my friend!
