Notes About The Poem

THE TASTE OF NOTHING

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
eight kinds of honey, but none for the bees. a pyramid of apples polished so bright they reflect the security cameras, their waxy skins sealing in the taste of nothing. The freezer aisle hums like a god demanding worship~ so many doors, so many choices. We are drowning in the deep end of shallow things. What are we thinking?
I'm sure you'd have a lot to say about all the processed foods in the other aisles...
Dear Sara, The image of polished apples reflecting cameras really stuck with me for it’s sharp and thought-provoking. Oh, how often we chase things that don’t truly satisfy. Holiday Blessings, Dear Sara, Daniel
thanks for stopping by, Daniel. I agree...we pursue that which doesn't satisfy and then overcompensate in a host of other ways....in that sense, all the abundance I see is a type of 'poverty.' Have a blessed holiday, Sara
