The Symphony of the Night

The moon is shining through my bedroom window
The sky above is clear and full of stars
Sleep avoids my eyes as it does every night
There are clouds out over the lake
Their edges lined by brightly lit silver
I can hear the rumblings of distant thunder
Rolling across the rising waves
I just lie here listening to the sounds
They are so much like music
Beautifully echoing from stone walls
Leaves rustle in a gentle breeze
Adding their notes to an unwritten symphony
A song that only nature could ever write
Music I would have missed if only I had slept

A beautiful melody, Robert. Nothing sings as well as nature.
