The Sweet Music of Silence

The years passed
and the sweet music
   of silence
      penetrates
   our words, our deeds
We watched the notes as they
   travelled to our
in our hearts
    Now silence
has overcome sound
      Does it mean that
we are poorer for the experience?
No!
The sounds of instruments well played
"thrusts the fingernail into the heart"
     But without silence
how can we learn to appreciate sound?

Matthew, all Premium members have a blog available to them; this is the first time I've posted on mine because I feel this is an important moment that is unlikely to occur again in our lifetime. If it changes the life of even one person who reads my blog, it's worth telling 'Soup members about it, despite the many naysayers. Look up at the menus at the top of the page and click on Blogs. Or on my poems next to the premium member star is a link directly to my blog.

And so it is with all the contrasts that we've come here to experience. This is lovely, Matthew. Thank you for your insightful comments on mine. I wonder if you would check out my first blog posting. Many blessings,

Very imaginative and creative concept Matthew.. perhaps this is the reason silence is golden..the silent music of our words carries through to reach the vessels we need them to... enjoyed my friend with luv..

Perhaps we only hear the music as we are experiencing things, Matthew, but the words and deeds remain in our hearts as silent memories. The last two lines make us want to create new memories. Very nice use of music as a metaphor. Blessings to you during the holidays! Love, Carolyn
