winter has come early solitude blankets the frontier and hinterlands of my soul all the birds have flown south taking warm breezes with them not to be outdone solace of human companionship has also fled like long, lanky shadows leaping across a high mountain only the dark red eyes of the cave lit up by an innermost flame stares transfixed motionless expanding into the empty night
