The Sun Rose On My World Today
‘Twas darker than a winter’s eve;
My mood this summer morn.
When a miracle from God appeared
To wash away my scorn.
The cobalt of the darkness
Gave way to gold above.
The sun rose on my world today
And filled my soul with love.
I heard the song of mocking birds
And watched a blue bird fly
Until his lovely azure hue
Was swallowed by the sky.
I smelled the scent of fresh-cut hay,
Of petrichor and sage
As though a troop of summer’s best
Had rushed onto the stage.
I wondered at this miracle
And what this day might bring.
The sun rose on my world today
And made me feel like spring!
