The Summit and Back Again

THE SUMMIT AND BACK AGAIN
It had always been my ambition To climb the highest peak. And today I conquered Everest, But, alas, my future is bleak. For, just as I started descending, Though taking the utmost care, I suddenly lost my footing, Now I’m hurtling through the air. At thirty-three feet per second per second, Acceleration, I fear The descent will be quicker than climbing; It seems the end is near. I’m afraid it’s time to sign off now, This poet is heaven-bound.
