The Story of Glenview
Incorporated in 1899
is growing with the railroads.
It has north branch of Chicago River
and is in vicinity, west of Lake Michigan.
Glenview iconic Bear Fountain
given by Jackman in 1917,
renovated as a symbol stands -
adjacent park carries his name.
A three-level Bear Fountain, the Village's mascot
is the symbolic representation of Glenview.
Images of Native American faces
run along the top of the pedestal.
In the Glenview area lived Potawatomi Nation.
Their language belongs to Algonquian family.
They are relatives of Ottawa and Ojibwe -
the original people.
Potawatomi are keepers of fire
which resembles, tremendous,
unapproachable light, the fire of God
of companion worlds on the roadways of the sky.
