The Stillness

The Stillness
Dead Babies Do Not Cry

From the moment of conception
I was kept in the darkness
Alone, crying, kicking
One day I was brought into the light
Air filled my lungs and sadness my soul

From the first day of birth
I smiled to hide incessant fear
I stopped moving the moment I was born
For the solitude and sadness of the womb
Followed me my whole life
