The State of Self By Self
The State of Self by Self
The meter of time flows without thought
As the clock of life continues with us
In every tick of its tock
We send ourselves forward as gifts
To the world to perceive as just
A reflection of what?
I wish you could see what I do
The world in a rose colored glass
With you by my side and a laugh that was shared
Is what makes life one that should last
The experience shared by two and not one
Is double the joy that can be
But when two becomes one
That joy is undone and the laughter just ceases to be
I wish you could see what I do
The world in a rose colored glass
You were there by my side with a laugh that was shared
It was what made life one that should last
Now I stand at the abyss of an empty shell
Of what I was once now again
My self-predisposed to self and one knows
I can’t last in a state of my own
I wish you could see what I do
The world in a rose colored glass
With you not at my side and no laugh to be shared
My life no longer should last
As memory fades and life passes by
With your smile and your charm and resolve
To be one again and never to be although very involved
I wish you could see what I do
The world in a rose colored glass
Always there with a laugh that was shared
Was what made my life one that should last
