The Star of the King
There's a Star rising in the east,
Turning Earth by Heaven is reached,
The Timeless is, and time is breached
Weary shepherds stand, then shaking fall
As euphoric angels sing their all,
Wise men awed, heed the holy call
Dark manger by sacred star is bathed
While a relieved mother, glowing prays
Sleeping her child; the Ancient of Days
The boy stirs and softly He moans,
Paradise calling Poor his home;
This King needs no earthen throne
Three gifts in the straw are tender laid,
Homage to their Lord is breathless paid,
Holding His Father's hand; the tiny babe
Mary's joy with tears is met;
She lays her head on Joseph's chest,
She thanks the bowing, grateful guests
Then angels and men, stars and beasts
To awe and worship are released
For Heaven and human; the Prince of Peace
