The Splendid Times

Strain not your eyes in the darkness of loneliness
For the deserter has forsaken you
His face is lost in the whirlwind of time
You feel nostalgic about the past splendid times.

Your craving for bygone days to return
Those moonlit nights, those captivating days
Are a history and history doesn’t repeat itself
A fallen dry leaf can’t be put back to the branch

Turn the corner and shed the awesome memories
Stop the rivulet from flowing through your eyes.
Silence the sound of your crying heart
Spare your soul from the memory´s dart.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

Hi Hamida, your poem is very nice but it is not Ghazal. Poetry soup has a good example of ghazal. Check it out..

Thank you for your encouraging comment. My poem is a free verse. I agree it is not a Ghazal. I have'nt tried writing Ghazals in English Language. Regards
