The Sparrow

The Sparrow. The stage was enormous partly dark; floor board made of the decks of stranded schooners a sparrow came shuffling in, slightly bent too much time spent at street corners singing for a few shilling had taken its toll. She was met with applause which lifted her spirit she smiled and began singing love songs the pain of love the loss of love the longing for love. Often she had loved wrongly, but she had no regrets. Standing ovation. Later there would be flowers, chocolate and wine. It was her last performance. Although she didn`t know at the time, although some of her fans suspected it. she flew away, and Paris mourned. Non, Je ne regretted rien.
