The Sounds of Summer

Silently, the summer morning awakes,
One by one, the sounds come:
The wind blows across the lake,
Bringing scent of the flowers that overnight have become.
I breath in deeply, my own breath added to the morning mist.
The splash of the water comes to my ears,
The lapping waves give the bank a gentle kiss;
I hear the frogs give their morning cheers.
The birds just waking from their built nests,
One by one begin to sing.
I hear the robin with the vibrant chest,
His voice has the clearest ring.
The grass moves with a gentle swish,
The willows branches softly creak.
If I listen closely I can even hear the fish.
But the bright sun's voice is the most unique.
The clouds move with barely a noise,
But you can hear them all the same.
The morning summer is filled with joys,
If your mind you can train.
Open up your senses wide,
And let it all channel in,
Let the world fill your eyes,
You can even see what has been.
The beauty of nature can be seen,
Even with closed eyes;
Shades of every color radiate the scene,
If you'll just try.
The sounds of summer speak so clear,
To those who listen close.
You can hear each animal, even the beautiful deer,
And the lovely growing rose.
The sounds of summer wait for you,
To open up and see;
So close your eyes and before we're through,
You'll see the beauty I see...
