The Sound of Pain

What sound is this my soul can hear?
It quakes my very being
A tear upon the curtain of time
That keeps my heart from seeing

Love is just a fading memory
An echo of a dream long past
A reflection blurred between the lines
A promise that didn't last

Has love now changed to endless pain,
Whose screams must go unheard?
My soul cries out for some relief
But no one hears a word

My heart is now a festered sore
An infection now claims my soul
A malignant curse of hollow dreams
That no one can console

Tiny pieces now left behind
Becomes a cancerous stain
Unheard screams trapped in silence
This is the sound of pain

I like this. The language is very descriptive which takes what could be an oft used theme and makes me feel it deeply. Well done! -Laura
