The Song Cry of the Whippoorwill

The song of the Wippoorwill
cries to the sky above.
Lonely was he, looking for his
long lost love.

 Lovely sounds that resonate.
Wishing for his long lost mate.

Each night he wonders why?
His calls, unanswered with
no reply.

Oh where my love are you
tonight?
I'm calling, calling till morning
light.

His little heart cant take much
more.
It is she, that he adores.

Evenings are long as he still
waits.
Time well tell his coming fate.

In his search he did not know.
His Love, another, Whippoorrwill
stole.

The whippoorwill's plaintive call...much like that of the loon...always makes me feel a little sad.

This lovely sadness in a way abounds throughout the species on Earth, and we humans have the Box Office to show such. A gentle beautiful little write :) and as it happens, I've also written a poem on this little gem of nature . . . . James ..

Hi Michael, it's called 'Whip-poor-will' if you'd like to read, and yep, I love music, so I'll definitely look it up. Great singer 'Don Henley, regards, James . . . .

They are a popular species of bird. Don Henley sings a great song Talking to the moon. Its one of my favorite songs and its got the whippoorwill in the song looking for his lady love. Great song James if you get a chance listen to it a couple of times. Whats the poems name you wrote on the Bird?

That sneaky maniacal thief of a whippoorwill ruined his life! This sometimes happens but it is always mean. I am saddened by this one.

It is sad Caren but maybe after a while he got the message and really found a true love that was loyal to him and they stayed together. I hope that brightens your sadness of this piece. Thanks for your second visit. Be blessed...

I know all about the whipperwhills cry. It comes on times of death my love. You just have not lived that long but I have. Cry the whipperwhill takes the soul the night of the death. Kelli
