The Solitary Fish
Curiously you look up,
Seeing the same things everyday
Cooped in a small, pink container
Looking down at the familiar pebbles
You swim in your thoughts
Awaiting another day
Living for yourself and you only
Because it is all you've ever known
And there are giants all around you
They are scary, but exciting
It gives you something to look at
You hardly notice me watching you
Writing of your simple, yet inspiring existence
Your beautiful, red fins flowing in the water
The plastic palm tree, your only companion
You must get lonely, but what do I know?
The concept of being alone
May be in your brain unknown
I feed you little morsels
Your beady eyes are glued on them
You never complain...
I love that about you, solitary fish
You serve me your light
Upon tonight
So I'll just sit here watching you
Looking up...never once
Asking to be aknowledged...never asking for attention
Just keep swimming, little one
And I will too...for the sun
