The Soft Thunder of a Summer Storm

I longed for it, the release
I wouldn't mind if it rained all day
At least one of us gets to empty ourselves
I can never stop overflowing
I need to step outside and pour out the pain
I'll scream with the sky, and pray the water cleanses me
I'll stretch out my arms, and pound my bare feet into the mud
I'll remember joy, this heart in my chest becoming light , will rattle like a drum
in the soft thunder of a summer storm
