The Smoker Next Door

I'm sitting on the terrace Of the condo of my aunt And trying to enjoy the breeze But sadly, I just can't. For next door there's a neighbor I can't see, behind the wall, Yet his smoking habit somehow seems To permeate us all. He obviously steps outside So all his inside air Stays relatively clean; at least The smoke won't hover there. But what he doesn't think of Is about the smoke he blows, Or when it wafts exactly Where it is that vapor goes. If he would ask, I'd answer 'Cause no matter what he thinks, It's invasive and intrusive And to top it off, it stinks!

Hear! Hear! I despise cigarette and cigar smokers and have little regard for smokers. It's a filthy and unhealthy habit and addiction. After years of complaining about the smoke in the corridors of my complex, two years ago the management finally forbade smoking in the building, though many still violate the rule. Your poem reflects my dislike for these people / M

I gave em up 40 years ago when I suddenly realized the ones I wanted to impress were all gone. People were shying away from me. I coughed all the time. I've never been more proud of a decision to quick something as that! Smokers need to hear this sort of thing to hopefully make them want to quit!! Great write. Sorry about the rant!!.............80)

You are so right to be upset about it, dear. Second hand smoke is detrimental to one's health. You worded this so so well.

I don't know why they don't just subsidize the tobacco industry and make smoking illegal. There aren't too many smokers that don't want to quit. Neighbors, whatta ya gonna do? :)
