The Skylark Chirps

the skylark chirps

  of amorous refrains

    mellow as night…

 a winged hymn echoing

tales of my deepened woes

Nette, your Tanka brought the contrast of how a lovely situation can heighten your woes if you are not part of it. Faving it. Congrats. Mohan

I think the second line should have an instead of of. That being said I like this tanka since I too am a fan of our avian friends. Do you know the poem by P.B. Shelly where he mentions birds? Something like "hail to thee blythe spirit - bird thou never wert. Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Heartfelt sentiments, and the closing line -- a surprising sigh! I wish mine was as good as this, Nette.
