The Skylark - Alouette

Watch the birds in flight
As they soar from sight
Over verdant canopies,
With their nests below
Tiny feathers grow
On their fledglings in the trees.

Hungry mouths to feed
With the gathered seed
Found upon the dewy sod,
Which the skylark brings.
Afterward she sings
Her sweet gift of song to God.

Must have been a Buick looking for a lark in a park and became mad like Trump raving while stark.

Thank you Caren. I just put this and thirteen other poems in a book for my six year old granddaughter's birthday March 2nd. It took me four days to complete which is why I haven't been around much at Soup. I love this form. Have a great week. xxoo

This one is a real beauty. The Last two lines flashes superbly with the melody of this sweet singing bird. It's a gem dear friend which I would like to read again and again. It also goes as my favorite one and congrats on your grand win in the contest. Love and best wishes always...Ravindra K Kapoor

Thank you so much for giving my poem such a high placement in your contest Dr. RAM. I took a fall down the stairs on my crutches which kept me from responding before now. I am doing okay now, trying to heal quickly. Your contest was a great success with wonderful entries. Blessings, Connie

Dear Connie, You surely brought the skylark and her love for family and God to light in this incredible "Alouette." Birds are always fun to hear and watch. I don't think there are skylarks in my area, but pelicans pick up the slack. ;D Best wishes in the contest, dear. Love, Carolyn

I have written mine now(Not posted yet) and I came back to see yours again. I think half of what you wrote about is where I centered my theme completely. But it's so cute how you included the babies and the feeding of them!! Soupmail
