The Silent Heart

the silent heart
has no song to be heard
only the loneliness within
that echoes across empty rooms
where no ear listens
where the heavy drapes still the sun
so the shadows may proceed
unencumbered by desirous longings
it is in this
i wait for you
in remembrances of your touch
as tempus fugit embraces me
fading lips i long to taste again
a reassuring voice rests in quietude
lost in an empty room of shadows
manacled in darkened depths
the abyss in a silent heart
has no song to be heard

Is the heart that still belongs to a memory truly silent? The loneliness here is resonating, yet the longing he feels is tangible. Wonderful Timothy

Within the sadness of this poem, I felt a lot of veracity and well-expressed emotions, adding strength and conviction. Well done!...ab

thank you by the way....it is so refreshing here, avoiding the TMZ crowd....to be with those who sit beneath the bough reading poetic minds

a poem such as this reminds me of Ted Hughes "October Salmon" it is much more than a salmon in a few inches of water...it is his observation, inspiration, and imagination that stretches what would be an article in Field and Stream into the fate within life, he moves us from the mortal into the immortal...he uses his personal knowledge of the salmon life to attach them to the bruises of humanity...the long journey...its toll...this is where we live, not in People Magazine
