The Show
They come to your towns and cities,
They shake your hand and kiss your babies.
They put on a show worthy of an Oscar,
They display such creativity, such humor.
Their words are soft-spoken and enticing,
They make the show seem real, more than simple acting.
They make false promises, the crowd cheers.
After the show is over the smoke slowly clears.
They are nowhere to bee seen, the promises disappear.
Reality now sets in, down from many eyes rolls a tear.
All that acting, all those promises.
Now only remain the meaningless phrases.
The people's hopes are now shattered,
All the pieces throughout our country scattered.
