The Shadow of You
Alone, I stood before you,
A shoulder to lend; a panacea,
On reaching out to your heart
In hope I might touch you
I asked why of deafened ears,
And of your tears unwilling to fall
Am I spirit you breeze by,
A voice subdued, unheard?
Embers lay scattered, broken-hearted
In the ashes of a once burning love:
Oh-foolish to try and kindle,
Your passion of love’s spent dream
