The Shadow of Her Words
In the shadow of her words
his heart opened
He looked beyond the scars,
the the broken pieces
He heard a hidden melody
written in between her words
An enchanting song heard only
by kindred souls
One by one he released into
the river of life they shared
one flower in the morning
one flower at night
The beauty of its scent
did not come from without
it came from within her heart
The beauty of its color
did not come from without
it came from within her heart
As storms came and went
the flood waters ebbing in rhythms
The flowers continue merely
tokens from one soul to another
Hate can not survive
in the light of day
where beauty abounds
Love transcends the darkness
for memories light the way
Hate feeds upon the lies
of darkness devouring itself
Love nourishes on more
love feeding eternity
The flowers continue in
the river of life they share
replenished in love shared
in the joy of a smile felt
not seen in an enchanting song
heard only by kindred souls
