The Shadow

I go to you
To comfort me
To make me understand
And to get me to see
I had gotten to believe
That you would be there forever
And for all eternity

It came as a surprise
But when you were not there
I could finally realize
That you were just a dream
Just a myth to wake up with
A doubt to believe in a passing shadow

If it would have only stopped to open up
It could have become a part of you
But closing
And darkening itself
Is what makes it the black
and haunting figure passing by

There's no reasons
Or explanations
It absorbs you
knows you
And takes a part of you away
Leaving you with a pain of helplessness

It hurts
But does not care
which is why it is now gone
Only you are left
To become stronger
Than you ever were before
