The Serpent

The serpent within
Lays coiled
Yet never at peace
Tremors of forever
Agitate its presence
Its necessity
Determined by
Its need
To shield, protect, defy
Those who wish
It exiled
Into soundless stillness
Stripped of its awareness
A silent sentinel
Muted
Lest it strike
Its fang-like “voice”
Injecting
An end
To the conversation

A good description of being quieted. It's a deep, communicative poem.

"of being quieted".....great phrase....could be a future contest theme....it also describes what is done by all the shouting and posturing of politicians and society in general
