The Sending Saying Goodby As Teen Leaves Home

THE SENDING

The Teen, smiles

with bag in hand, tickets for escape
Anxious to stand in another hall
Anxious to eat the junk of college life
Anxious to sleep in another bed
Anxious to discover the embrace of sweeter younger arms

The Parent, smiles

with bittersweet baby memories flashing, Fear choking words, Stoic shake of hands
        Anxious
