The Seed of Hope

The seed of hope In the winter of affection the seed of hope lies dormant, Awaiting touch of spring to wake and seek out the sun. You call and your voice warms the earth, igniting the Green fuse within. Gently, but with determination, the hard coat is breached And tender coleoptile begins its journey to a brighter place. Precious reserves of trust fuel the spiralling progress towards The light of love. Above, the world plays out its tragedies and comedies, Oblivious to the fragile re-birth beneath, indifferent to the Precarious hopes that grow with the emerging shoot, Foolishly, but irresistibly. The cold chill of doubt halts the new awakening, Worn paths of memory rehearse your words of parting, And remind of the futility of fertilising barren ground, A drought of love. Still, the faint ember of warmth in your phone farewell Glows and warms the seed of hope, stirring the Force that drives the green fuse, foolish fancy, Aching for summer.
