The Secret of the Rainbow
It’s time said the faerie queen.
Sh! Don’t wake anyone else.
We were in the meadow,
Asleep in a heap of puppies.
I had to disengage myself out from under one’s paw.
The dog groaned and rolled over,
Back to sleep in seconds thanks to the sleeping potion.
The faerie queen was bigger than I imagined.
If you share this with anyone, your life will be ruined, she cautioned.
Don’t worry, I told her. Nobody knows, nor will they.
We flew to the rainbow, I was under her wing,
Just a little mite of a spec of a thing at the time.
Marvelous colors greeted us and gave us a musical score
Constructed magnificently enough for angels to weep.
I felt pure happiness as Blue turned into Indigo and Violet.
You did want to see, right? The faerie queen asked.
I nodded my head, happier than I have ever been.
Souls of the sweet ones were fast asleep, waiting their turn.
This is where the angels get them ready for transport, the faerie queen said.
We sat in awe, watching them sleep, feeling rainbow love,
An awe without words, a feeling of pure God-like love.
