Notes About The Poem

The Search For Happiness

What has happened to happiness?
I can’t find it anywhere.
I used to see it on my street,
But it seems to have disappeared.

I’ve looked for it at my place of work,
It doesn’t seem to be there.
It isn’t in my neighborhood,
I can’t find it anywhere.

So I asked my friends to look for it,
And tell me when they find it.
One of them got tired of looking,
So I told him never mind it.

He said that he’d been looking for it,
Year, after year, after year.
To make him keep on searching,
Simply wasn’t fair.

I was running out of patience,
This search was driving me wild.
I was just about to give it up,
When I spoke to a little child.

Happiness was all around,
With a smile from ear to ear.
Nothing but happiness could be found.
No sign of worry or fear.

So take a hint from this little child,
And your search will come to an end.
Love this life just the way it is,
And happiness will come from within.

 Note:

Happiness is something you can only give yourself.
Don't expect others to give it to you.
You need to start small like a child
find simple things around you. A flower, clouds,
Rain, birds and so on. Once you are grateful
for the simple things around you you will notice
many other wonderful things that are happening in your life.
Then you will also find happiness all around you.

This is sage, wise advice playfully and poetically spelled out with great rhyme, flow and energy. It is worthy of many, many readers and comments so its a shame such didn't happen. Those of us who know of happiness' truths such as you do, also know how to self-validated, so I hope you did that knowing you wrote an excellent poem. Poetry hugs ... CayCay
