The Sealed Box
The box arrived sealed.
In my heart, I know what it holds.
I open the box with anticipation,
Knowing I've waited all my life for this.
I look inside,
I see books.
My name is embossed on the cover,
As if it were a dream,
With the words "Voices Of My Heart."
I held it up with one hand,
Kiss it with such love,
All my emotions come flooding out.
This book is my whole life.
My dreams, My memories, and,
My blood, sweat, and tears.
This is the one thing that,
She will never take from me.
I raise the book as I yell,
You can't take this from me!
This is mine!
I smile as I look within my heart and,
Realize I am home.
I am an author and,
I have taken back my power.
I may not be rich,
But at least the world,
Will know who I am.
For me, that is a start.
I am now an author.
