The Scent of Water
Holy blood and water flowed out from death
Scent of water scattered the whole earth
Graves torn down, lifeless bodies gained new life
Heaven opened and lo! Lost church’ rebirth!
Sparkling water kissed the babe’s forehead;
Bless the scent of water the infant breathed!
Now -- spotless, blameless, and of pure heart
Free of sin inherited from frail Eve.
As liquid trickled down his face ignite
Heaven’s radiant light shoots out earth bright,
Spirit dove perched in peaceful glory
Upon him whose soul is the Father’s delight.
Impoverished jar, thirsty infidel
Flamboyant wine filled you to the full
Water gushed out to quench your heart’s deep thirst
But the world’s delight cannot sate your soul!
Poor woman kept coming to the town’s well
To fetch water for her daily drink, till
She asked for the scent of water -- Enough!
Eternal life’s fragrance enriched her soul!
