The Sanity Inside

Into my thoughts I travel
Becoming one, with what's inside
Daring to gaze upon sanity
And all the things I hide

Memories drift in tandem
Upon the silence of the night
To float away forever
Fading from my sight

Remorse’s become my jailer
Deemed guilty by my peers
Betrayed by sense of reason
Surrounded by my fears

Outside my vision lies tomorrow
Futures to which I'm blind
Here I am in my own prison
Held captive in my mind

These walls will never crumble
Too high for me to see
Awakened from this slumber
I'm alive, but never free

There is conflict within me
Caught between wrong and right
I am but a shadow
Straying from the light

Well done, Jared. I think you touch upon things that many of us experience, to varying degrees.
