The Sands of Time
The sands of time move on and on
Without respite, without a lull,
Immutable for one and all,
Whether kings of humble vassals;
The sands of time drip on and on
Without any grain of mercy,
Without any ray of pity
And wait not for splits of seconds;
The sands of time pour on and on
To fill the cup of human life,
To mark their footprints on earth
And to stand as a foil to space;
The sands of time soar on and on
Whether during shine of the day
Or during darkness of the night
Without a moan, without a groan;
The sands of time flow on and on
Like a river that never dries,
Like waves that never rest a while,
Like earth that doesn`t cease to revolve;
The sands of time fly on and on
Unflagging in their tireless flight
Like a divine winged chariot
Across immensity of the space;
The sands of time roll on and on
On the wheels of eternity
To mark the scrolls of history
And the rolls of humanity;
How I wish time to fold its wings
Suspend its endless flight awhile
That I may eye nature`s beauty
And fulfill my childish longings!
How I would wish to build a shrine
For him who can reverse time`s march
And restore to me childhood days
With the mind I have at present!
