The Sand of Time

Time comes to pass 
As the river does flow
Just as life sparks and fades 
Leaving a story in its bones
I watch time fade away
First to black, then to gray
I witness each era live and die,
Buried with haste in shallow graves.
Each one leaving a piece behind
