The Sage Ones Know To Keep Counsel

light of the forest occurred once a year
beginning as a flicker, but ossifying into a white stag
is she our heart then? young sapling asked his twig
twig had no idea, so kept silent
owl, moss, mushrooms, and elementals knew
the wisest course is to let everyone figure it out
in their own time frame,
some learn it in one lifetime
others take hundreds of lifetimes to figure it out
god gave the sage ones a nod
