The saga of Cuban courage -I

The saga of this brave, courageous land,
A noble tale of ultimate survival,
As simple as a second nature born,
As plain as seasons turning warm from frost,
As sure as changes rule a helpless beast
That learns to rise until it breaks the storm.

Survival’s not for those of brutal strength,
But more so for the agile waking mind,
For stubborn willed to brave the longest haul.
They grab whatever tool is close at hand,
Adapting just to keep the spark alive;
One sees this striking trait from miles away.

With resource found inside a clever sleeve
They live, though tapped water runs dry for long,
And power lines refuse to hold a charge,
The fridge when turns to hollow wooden box,
The dinner spoils in front of famished maws,
And TV box to distant memory.

With meagre means to parse the cause for blame,
Their daily woes have hardened to plain habit.
A million brothers face the self-same plight
Of long, perennial, exhausting lack—
The blockades from a hostile neighbour's hand,
Made harsher by a wild, quixotic head.

 ‘The isle is poised to fall at any hour,’
Predicts the brash, proudest arrogant foe,
Who little knows the dour, determined mind
That thrives on less and walks the extra mile;
To Trump’s own face, the land’s not prone to fall,
Defying predictions of sudden end.
