The Saddest Words

The saddest words I ever heard Were those you sobbed just now, ‘I should’ve said…’ you cried to me, ‘…I wish I had…somehow....’ Well, here’s the deal, my dear old love, It needn’t be that way; Starting right now just let it go, Let actions guide your day. I’m gone from you now, yes, it’s true, But you are left behind; It’s not a tribute to our life, If you live yours resigned. Please dry your tears and hear me now, If you can listen still; Our love will live through what you do, And what gives you a thrill. Live those great dreams and soar to heights, Never reached together; Attain the happiness we sought, Let us smile forever… You can be happy, you will see, When rhythm takes your feet. With your joy, you can set me free; Our love will be complete.
