The Roses Are In Bloom
Filling the emptiness,
I just watered the roses,
in this early morning calm.
No birds singing,
No flutter of butterflies.
The sun hovers over all,
building for its afternoon heat...
Your tomato plants are thirst,
I water them too.
You asked if I had noticed the
beautiful crep myrtle bloomed in pink,
it seems to touch the sky,
Oh my, and me without camera.
I should weed next, but won't;
I should dead-head the roses,
coreoposis, columbine...
Later perhaps.
"Why do you sigh?"
Asked the robin, close by, coming
from her hiding place atop the down spout
where she had been feeding her babies.
Watering done, I come back in to share my
Firginia morning, in poetic diary.
What emptiness?
The butterfly bush is beginning to bloom!
Ah!
