The Rose

Fragrant and regal, she stands above all others
Nature’s most perfect creation
First a tight bulb in flawless shades of heavenly hues
Her secret folded within

Then slowly, each day of sunshine and dew
Bring her from her shyness with the first hint of more
Loosening her tight grip of intimacy, she begins
Unfolding slowly at first

The magnificence growing each morning
As she opens her bounty for all to worship
For she knows she is the Goddess of flowers
Each petal lovelier than the next
