The Rooster
I am up in the morning sunrise,
Perch aloft a fence post,
Protecting the hen coop.
All around the peaceful farm,
The animals and humans are sleeping
While I'm on graveyard shift
Watching out for the shrewd fox.
Cock-a-doodle-doo!
Sound of fluttering wings
Of flying, cackling, nesting hens
In the coop.
Cock-a-doodle-doo!
Humans, it's time to get up
Dress in your overalls,
Punch your time card;
A day of callus work
From dawn until dusk.
