The Rock

She sat on the rocks looking out at the water The sun reached across and she smiled as it caught her She picked up a pebble that stood out in the sand And fingered it lightly as it lay in her hand It was daring like him to sparkle so brightly She stared at it long then held it tightly Then suddenly it cut her, it cut her fast The cut had hurt, the hurt would last She stared at the water as the sky went dim Then threw in the rock for the rock was like him.
