The Robin's Song

I wake to the soft sounds of rain tapping my window. For several days hovering clouds have stolen the sun, And I am thinking they portend sorrow lying ahead. I hear a robin singing, so rare when the sky is gray, With indomitable spirit, the bird keeps up its melody And, suddenly, my heart begins to sing its own tune. A "song in my heart" happens a lot when I hear a robin trilling, so this one hits me.
